Troubleshooting Remote Voicemail Access
If you are having trouble checking your voicemail when dialing into your extension remotely, the issue is usually caused by one of the following:
1. Call Forwarding to Your Cell Phone
If your extension is set to forward or follow calls to your cell phone, and you then try to check voicemail from that same cell phone, it creates a loop.
In this case, your cell provider assumes you are trying to access your cell voicemail, not your work extension.
Workaround: Block your caller ID when dialing in.
On most networks, you can do this by dialing *67 before the number.
Some phones also allow you to hide the caller ID in settings.
2. Entering Password Too Quickly
When checking voicemail from an outside line, pressing the password digits too quickly can cause them to be misread.
Try entering your password slowly and deliberately.
